More airport pictures...so grateful for this precious moment

I love how these pictures show Tissy's emotions as she meets her new brothers for the first time. Notice the expression on her face.

Here one of the Ethiopian airport workers came to talk to Tyson Fikadu in Amharic. The only trouble is, that is not his native language since the boys are from the Southern region of Ethiopia. But it is touching just the same.

Did I mention that all these families and kid waited while our plane was delayed. It was so sweet of them all to wait just to welcome us home. We live in an unusual area. The people here have such a heart for adoption. We are so blessed.

Since I am making the blog to turn into a book for the boys, I wanted to include as many photos as I could. I want them to see the love and joy that waited for them as we came home.

Dear Sweet Peas,

Though you were too tired and too little to fully understand, I hope someday you will comprehend the love that waited for you here at home.

Love, Mom

Our homecoming - some airport pictures

If you have never been to the airport to meet an adoptive family coming home from their travels, you are missing something so very special. To watch a family unite in such a unique way, one that only God designs, is beyond amazing. Last year when I was able to witness a union of a family at our local airport, I believe that God used that moment to confirm our call to international adoption. Not to get caught up in the emotions of it, but it is so very emotional and precious.

We were so touched by all these family and friends that waited and waited for our delayed flight (sorry guys...snow delays in Detroit). The mass of children and signs and cameras and smiles was such a sweet sight to our eyes.

Oh the tears...not just because we were so tired (we had been flying for over 24 hours) but tears of joy. To see our boys united with our girls and see how God knit our family together in such a unique way.

No we don't all look alike. And no we don't have the same blood running through our veins. But we are a family. An example of God unfailing love and a picture on earth of how He sees His children.
This long day of traveling had so many firsts. First plane ride. First elevator. First escalator. First people mover. First ice cream. To watch the world through Tyson Fikadu's eyes is just precious. He just soaks it all in. And to ride on the luggage cart was a fun first too.

We didn't have the right size shoes for our big guy. So we had my mom and the girls bring bigger shoes for him to wear home from the airport. Oh the joy of seeing him have new shoes. So cute. Such pleasure in such simple things.

Dear Sweet Peas,

I am so sorry the trip home was so long and you were all so tired. You did a great job traveling and being outside your comfort zone. I am so proud of how you handled all the new experiences and scary transitions. I pray you can find comfort in knowing we are always here for you.

Love, Mom
